Description of the study program

By completing the first stage of the preschool and elementary pedagogy study program, the student will receive a bachelor's degree (B.C.) and a qualification corresponding to level 6 according to the Slovak Qualification Framework (SKKR). Proof of qualification is a university diploma (1st degree), a state examination certificate, and an addendum to the diploma.

Competences, knowledge, and skills of a bachelor's degree graduate, including transferable skills acquired during studies, make it possible to apply in occupations requiring an adequate level of communication interpersonal, professional competencies, adequate knowledge, and skills of the graduate corresponding to the level 6 of the Slovak Qualification Framework.

The student's study plan determines the time and content sequence of subjects, the method of teaching, forms of evaluation of study results, and workload expressed in credits. The student draws up the study plan based on clearly defined rules following the conditions of the study program and by the Study Regulations of PdF UK in Bratislava. The student determines the study plan for the next period of study by enrollment. The student enrolls in subjects with such a credit value and in such a composition (compulsory subjects, compulsory optional subjects, and optional subjects) that can fulfill the conditions for enrollment in the next part of the study in the control stage of the study.

Compulsory subjects are designed in such a way that the student acquires knowledge, skills, and competencies in the fields of pedagogy, psychology, and biology, as well as the content structuring of educational areas of the state curriculum. By mastering the content core of compulsory subjects, the graduate has the potential to influence the personality formation of a child of preschool and younger school age in terms of cognitive, social, emotional, and sensorimotor aspects and to apply adequate professional-pedagogical and didactic skills and competences. The content of the compulsory subjects of the study program reflects the main topics of knowledge, skills, and competencies of the field of study defined by the description, which also corresponds to the current needs of the practice.

Participation in compulsory subjects is the completion of continuous practice - the Semester Project subject. Practice is carried out in practice kindergartens and primary schools (school clubs for children with which the faculty has a cooperation agreement). Mandatory optional subjects are grouped into a total of 5 blocks, which represent essential knowledge of the subject area, which is centered in the pedagogical-psychological block, the language and communication block, the natural science-mathematical block, the educational subjects block, the social science block. Each block has a stated condition related to obtaining the minimum number of the group "A" and group "B" credits, which the student must accept when enrolling in subjects. Mandatory optional subjects marked with the letter "A" expand the basic core of compulsory subjects of the recommended study plan focusing on the theoretical foundations of individual scientific disciplines and forming a starting point for the subsequent development of understanding and critical thinking in the application of professional, methodological and didactic problems. Subjects marked with the letter "B" supplement the basic core of compulsory subjects. Part of the mandatory optional subjects is the specialized Adaptation Practice in Kindergarten.
The study program, thanks to the number and composition of compulsory optional subjects, enables a high variability of study paths depending on the student's interest and the diversity of his needs and his motivation. Recommended study paths are part of the study plan.

Elective subjects represent for the student the possibility of choosing a subject not only from the offer listed in the study plan of the study program but also create space for choosing from the offer of elective subjects and other study plans of the relevant degree of study at the University of Warsaw. A student can choose an elective subject beyond the minimum of mandatory elective subjects.
The individual components of the study program are connected, at the same time they provide the student with options for choosing and creating their study path.

The selection of topics for future final theses of the study program, preschool, and elementary pedagogy, are examples of topics reflecting current problems related to the issues of the study program. They follow the socio-economic interests of society and, last but not least, declare the relevance of the topics to the profile of the graduate of the preschool and elementary pedagogy study program.
