The publication, titled A breakthrough in artistic expression, aims 

to document and familiarize the viewer with fragments of 

realized outcomes during block instruction in the form of a 

plein air class, where students were given a sub-task to work 

in creating a drawing that in some way accentuated 

the action of making a mark. In the first part of the assignment, the assignment read 

as follows: a BAD - a positive or negative experience on 

life's journey (within a life story). 

To begin, students were asked to describe a selected BAD 

experience from their adulthood. The scope and form were 

arbitrary, it could be a continuous text or the essence 

could be captured through dashes, for example. In the second part, entitled Action 

drawing, students were already required to respond to the described 

EVIL event. The condition was the realization of the clue 

by means of ,,action,,. The action realized through different 

materials, they could use for example also natural materials that 

the chosen environment offered - water, soil, sand, stone, 

leaves, branches, ashes, smoke.... These could be gesturally applied to 

natural materials, or to any substrate. In addition 

to the actual implementation, it was very important to document the process of 

implementation so that we were able to obtain valuable material, 

revealing the background of the creation of each outcome. These 

were then processed in post-production by the students and submitted electronically in the agreed 

form. Some of them approached the task responsibly 

and documented in text form the process 

of realisation, the material used, but most importantly they described the feelings they experienced during 

the realisation of the action.  

The publication is compiled from a selection of photographs recording 

either the process of realization or the final output of the works of the students 

enrolled in the block course Drawing and Spatial 

Creation in Landscape, which took place in the month of May 2024. The selected 

reproductions are complemented by short reflections of the authors, 

clarifying either the process of creation or the perception of the action 

as such. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude 

to all the participating students for their collaboration. The assignment of the 

subtask is part of the KEGA project No. 001KU-4/2023
