We would like to draw students' attention to the validity of the new Study Regulations of the Faculty of Education of Comenius University effective from 1.9.2020.

Information on supplementary enrolment of subjects

Winter semester – Academic year 2023/2024

During the first week of classes (9/18 – 9/24/2023), students may add and delete courses from their enrollment list.

In the second week (9/25 – 10/1/2023), students may only add courses to their enrollment sheet; deletions will no longer be allowed, only by request, but requests will be accepted only when warranted.

Rigorous theses

Information on the implementation of rigorous procedures in the context of current measures to prevent the spread of the COVID pandemic19:

  • The process for accepting applications for RC and subsequent processing remains unchanged.
  • The current internal legislation is in force:

  • Committee chairs are advised to preferably communicate with rigorosants by email, telephone or e-applications (Microsoft Teams, etc.).
  • The defence of the rigorosum thesis and the oral examination in the relevant subjects can be carried out in person or online, according to the decision of the chair of the committee.
  • In the case of a face-to-face procedure, the rigorosant shall electronically deliver a scan or photograph of the declaration of health and travel history to the Registrar, Dr Durč, in the 2-3 days prior to the defence and examination, i.e. not earlier. The members of the committee who will be present at the oral defence, including the opponents, will also provide Dr. Durčovej with their personal statements. Course of the rigorosum proceedings in the field of Preschool and Elementary Pedagogy, study programme Teaching for Primary Education

Procedure for the commencement of the rigorosum procedure at the Department of Pre-primary and Primary Pedagogy of the Faculty of Education of the Comenius University in Bratislava: 

  • the application can be submitted at any time during the current school year,
  • the general instructions for starting the rigorosum procedure at the Faculty of Education of Comenius University in Bratislava are available on the faculty's website,
  • the applicant fills in the rigorous thesis topic form from the list of currently approved topics published on the department's website,
  • the completed rigorous thesis topic form is signed by the chair of the rigorous thesis committee,
  • the candidate will be assigned a thesis supervisor during the thesis approval process,
  • the approved application will be forwarded to the Department of Lifelong Learning at the Faculty of Education of Comenius University in Bratislava

Preparation and submission of the rigorous thesis

  • more detailed guidelines, fees and requirements for the formal processing of the rigor thesis and scope are published on the Faculty's website,
  • the deadline for submission of the rigor thesis is 1 year from the approval of the topic,
  • in the event of failure to meet the deadline (for serious reasons), an application may be made for an extension of the thesis submission deadline,
  • the opponent is not obliged to consult with the candidate, but it is useful to contact him/her and ask for a consultation,
  • a referee's report will be drawn up after the submission of the thesis,
  • the date of the rigorous examination will be set no later than 6 months after the submission of the rigorous thesis for rebutta

Rigorous examination

  • defence of the rigorous thesis,
  • the rigorosum examination consists of three subjects (in primary education, the selection of the subject is determined by the chair of the rigorosum committee, in accordance with the topic of the rigorosum thesis and in accordance with the study programme Primary Education Teaching),
  • the topics of the rigorosum theses and the topics of the individual subjects for the rigorosum examinations: after consultation with prof. PhDr. Mária Kožuchová, CSc.

Primary Education Teaching (Extension Studies)

By the above education the graduate will acquire the professional competences necessary to meet the qualification requirement of teaching competence of a primary education teacher. The study ends with the successful completion of the final examination and the defence of the final thesis. Graduates are issued with a certificate by the faculty, which is proof of competence as a primary education teacher.

Length of study: 2 years, 4 semesters

Target group:

  • Teaching of general education academic subjects;
  • Teaching of art-educational subjects;
  • pre-school pedagogy/teaching for kindergartens;
  • special education/teaching for young people requiring special care.

The method of completion: defence of the final thesis; state final examination in the following subjects: primary pedagogy; didactics of mathematics and didactics of Slovak language.
