International conference on PhD research
The Institute of Philological Studies organizes the International Conference on PhD research, where doctoral students of philological disciplines focusing on foreign languages, literatures and cultures and Slovak language present the results of their scientific research activities and have the opportunity to discuss with colleagues and experts in their fields of study.
The idea of providing such a scientific forum for PhD students was initiated in 2015 by the Director of the Institute, prof. PhDr. Mária Vajičková, CSc. The conference is annually supported by university lecturers and researchers from the Department of English Language and Literature, the Department of German Language and Literature, the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, and the Department of Slovak Language and Literature with their participation and discussions.
Currently, we are preparing the 10th International Conference on PhD research in Philology to be held on May 16, 2025 online via video conferencing in MS Teams.

Conference proceedings
Following the conference, the Institute has the proceedings of its conference published in the transactions series Philological Studies. These consist of papers presented during the conference, and papers submitted without participating.
