Internationalization of Higher Education and the Well-being of International Students at Selected Slovak Universities

In recent years, there has been a notable increase in the number of international students in tertiary education both abroad and within Slovakia. At some Slovak universities, international students have even offset the decline in the number of domestic students. Despite ongoing efforts to enhance the conditions for foreign students—such as audits of internationalisation levels and the implementation of related projects at Comenius University in Bratislava—research in this domain remains limited.

This project aims to address the challenges related to the internationalisation of tertiary education at universities in the Slovak Republic. The primary objective is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the academic, socio-cultural, and procedural challenges encountered by both foreign and domestic students, as well as their instructors, with a particular focus on the Slovak University of Technology (STU) and Comenius University Bratislava (CU).

Based on the findings, the project will propose concrete measures to improve the academic and social support infrastructure at the selected universities. Ultimately, the project seeks to contribute to the creation of a more inclusive academic environment and to enhance the global competitiveness of Slovak universities.
