Prerequisites for study

The prerequisite for admission of applicants to the Bachelor's degree programme in Teaching Spanish Language and Literature (combined) is the completion of a full secondary education with a high school diploma and fulfilment of the admission requirements set by the faculty for applicants so that applicants with the required knowledge, abilities and prerequisites for successful completion of studies are admitted to the university studies. The required proof of educational attainment is a certified copy of the school leaving certificate. Applicants are admitted without an entrance examination if they meet one of the following criteria:

  1. passing the Spanish Baccalaureate at least at B1 level,
  2. passing a national Spanish language examination (basic, general or vocational) conducted by an approved institution (see www.minedu.sk),
  3. presentation of one of the internationally recognised standardised certificates confirming the applicant's level of Spanish language competence: DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) - level B1 or higher; CELU (Certificado de Español: Lengua y Uso) - Intermedio or Avanzado level; TELC (The European Language Certificates) in Spanish - B1 level or above; SIELE (Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de Lengua Española) - B1 level or above, or the presentation of another official document certifying the applicant's aptitude to study at the minimum required level. International diplomas/certificates or other official documents attesting to the applicant's ability to study at the minimum language level in Spanish not listed will be considered individually by the admissions board.

Meeting at least one of these criteria is considered a pass in the Spanish language admissions exam, which means that applicants do not have to take the written Spanish language admissions exam. On the basis of the recognition of the above certificate/national/matriculation examination, the applicant will be awarded a number of points equivalent to the maximum number of points obtained in the written admission test.

The selection of the other applicants will be based on the results of the written admission test, taking into account, in part, the results obtained in secondary education. In this case, the weighting of the entrance examination shall be at least ¾ of the total result of the admission procedure. In the case of a larger number of applicants than the expected number of applicants admitted to a given study programme, the faculty reserves the right to select the applicants who have achieved the best results in the entrance examination from among those who take the entrance examination. Applicants are admitted to a predetermined number of places.
